Green Eggs and …. Hambo!

Welcome to “Green Eggs and ……Hambo” sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo customers and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict book titles! It might be our favorite book, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Talk to the Ham you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!
A prize will be awarded to one participant whose book-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hoedown blog, as well as on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, February 1.

My creation is a take on a popular Dr. Seuss Series book entitled “Go, Dog, Go“. This book was the first book that my brother learned how to read and has always had a special place in my heart.

I wanted to use the new Bailey Dog release for this and wanted to feature him but also use the same format from the book. I pulled some papers from my scraps for the top and bottom and they happened to be from my K & Company Paper Pad. I’m loving these pads for papers with nice rich colors and some subtle prints or textures.

I pulled out my Bic Ultra Fine Markers and colored in the brown area on Bailey. I then pulled out a few of my Copics (B06 and B000) and colored in his collar and name tag. I coated the name tag with Glossy Accents to give it a bit of shine.

I mounted Bailey on a piece of white cardstock cut for the front that I then added the Orange and Green strips to after I had inked the edges with Spiced Marmalade and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks. I decided to add some twine at the bottom on top of the green to make up for not having a bottom sentiment. I think it pulled it together.

The top sentiment is spelled out with the Close To My Heart Typeset Alpha stamp set in Spiced Marmalade before I inked the edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and added two black mini brads. The banner is also popped up a bit with foam tape {just ordered 2 more rolls}.

Love how the finished card turned out and I’ve added it to my Etsy shop!

Now dance on over to Melissa for another great book!

Life Is A Pajama Party

It truly is isn’t it? Well at least for me on the weekends it is! I put my pajama pants on when I get home on Friday afternoons and stay in them the majority of the weekend {showers do happen, I just put them back on!}

When I was going through my box of stamps this past weekend {yes, they all fit in a photo box with room to spare} I found this sentiment that I had purchased back in 2009 at a scrapbook garage sale and that I had NEVER used! I don’t know who it is buy but it could easily be recreated with Word for sure.

So once I had this in mind, I also pulled out the Sketch Saturday sketch for the week. It was perfect as it had a spot for a long sentiment at the top. I did ruffle the sentiment a bit once I had cut it into a banner and added some foam tape behind it. I went looking for a digi image wearing pajamas and found this cute little girl with her dolly {made by Melonheadz Illustrating}. Pulled out my Copics and Bic Ultra Fine Markers and love how it turned out.

The only liberties I took with this sketch were that the top layer is a circle instead of a rectangle and that I brought the back layer down a bit below the lower strip. All of the paper is from Echo Park Off the Record, the bling is from Prima eLine and the twine is from the stash. I did add some doodling with my Bic Tuxedo Black Mark It and my Signo Uniball White Gel Pen and love how it turned out with all the layers.

So more scraps used= success in my book! Trying to use up more so I can justify buying some new!
